The Össur Foot-Up Drop Foot Brace is a lightweight foot lifter brace for people with mild to moderate drop foot. The brace helps lift the forefoot while walking, allowing the foot to clear the ground more effectively during the swing phase. This can improve the walking pattern and help prevent the toes from catching on the ground, thresholds or other obstacles.

The Foot-Up consists of a comfortable ankle support with an elastic strap. The brace is supplied as standard with one plastic shoe inlay. This is positioned underneath the laces of a low-cut shoe. The elastic connection between the ankle support and the shoe inlay then assists with lifting the foot while walking.

How does the Össur Foot-Up Drop Foot Brace work?

The Foot-Up supports dorsiflexion of the foot: the movement that lifts the forefoot towards the lower leg. During the swing phase of walking, the elastic strap applies a pulling force to the forefoot. This helps lift the foot and can reduce the risk of tripping.

The position of the plastic shoe inlay underneath the laces influences the level of support. Positioning the inlay further towards the front of the shoe can increase the pulling force on the forefoot. The Foot-Up is designed for use with a low-cut lace-up shoe.

When is the Foot-Up used?

• Drop foot caused by reduced function of the foot-lifting muscles
• Nerve dysfunction or nerve damage, for example involving the peroneal nerve
• Reduced dorsiflexion while walking
• Steppage gait caused by drop foot

Össur Foot-Up Shoeless Accessory

With the Össur Foot-Up Shoeless Accessory, you can use your existing Foot-Up brace with shoes without laces, sandals, slippers or while barefoot. This is a separate accessory and can only be used in combination with the original Össur Foot-Up Drop Foot Brace.

Additional Össur Foot-Up Plastic Inlay

Would you like to switch your Foot-Up easily between different pairs of shoes? You can order an additional Össur Foot-Up Plastic Inlay. This allows you to keep an inlay in multiple pairs of shoes, so you do not have to reposition the same inlay underneath the laces every time you change shoes.

Important: both the Shoeless Accessory and the additional Plastic Inlay are accessories. You always need the complete Össur Foot-Up Drop Foot Brace to use these accessories. The Shoeless Accessory cannot be used on its own.

How to determine your size

To determine the correct size, measure the ankle circumference just above the ankle bones. Preferably measure over the sock you normally wear with the brace and compare your measurement with the size chart below.

Are you between two sizes? Please note that the Foot-Up can run relatively small. In this case, the larger size may provide a more comfortable fit.
